Anachrony

Anachrony is a competitive, epic Euro-style strategy game with worker placement at its core. The game is set in a grim future where Earth has been rebuilt along four different ideological Paths. Anachrony is played through a series of Eras, with a time travelling twist – players can use Time Rifts to reach back to earlier Eras as the game progresses. Players assume the roles of iconic leaders of the four ideological Paths. They strive for the supremacy and prosperity of their people, and do everything they can to prepare for a game-changing event. After the fourth Era, an asteroid impact shakes Earth, threatening to destroy the World Capital. When the time comes, the Paths can take their part in evacuating the collapsing Capital. In the end, one of the Paths will be the new home to the reformed World Council, and lead humanity to a brighter future.

Gameplay

Every era has six phases. Before choosing their actions, players first need to decide how many Exosuits they want to power up, three are for free, the rest will cost them. Each powered up Exosuit enables you to take an action at the capital city. During the game players will also acquire buildings which will give them new action spots on their own player boards. There are four types of workers, each having specific action spots which will give them either benefits or restrictions. So you’ll need to plan your turns carefully. All the time the looming asteroid impact forces you to prepare for evacuation. Do this well and you can score you a lot of points.

Summarised

Anachrony has a lot to offer for the seasoned gamer. There are a lot of choices to be made, you need to plan carefully and there are a lot of shifting parts. The production quality is excellent and the replay value just for the base game is already very high.
